Responsibility

A farm is a great responsibility:

No day off, animals must be fed

fences maintained, always something to fix.

Beloved barns covered in cobwebs,

Swept down to stop the spread of fire.

Cut wood to keep warm twice

Mow grass, fight weeds, help trees.

All creatures considered

Canadian geese need a pond to raise their young,

deer need shelter, squirrels need oak trees, birds need

evergreens, worms need dirt.

Try to have a productive garden

Try to appreciate the work!

Love the dogs, cats, and mice.

Snow, Mud, Rain, Sun

Care for it all, always.
